Mr Funky is back. This time he's got a ball machine, a cat, and multipliers that refuse to stop climbing.
Evolution has switched on Disco Balls, a new live game show that went global on 9 September 2026 and is now working its way through the supplier's operator network. For most players, the game will simply appear in their casino lobby over the coming days and weeks as individual brands complete the rollout.
It is worth understanding what is arriving, because Evolution is making an unusually bold claim about it: this is the first game in its portfolio where the multipliers keep growing during the main round, rather than being locked in before the draw.
What Disco Balls actually is
Strip away the glitter and the format is simple enough to explain in one sentence: predict which number from 1 to 20 the ball machine will draw.
Players place chips on a numbered betting grid, or spread their exposure using the cover bets - Low (1–10), High (11–20), Even and Odd. Match the number on the Result ball and the multipliers stacked on that number decide the payout.
That is the easy part. Everything that happens between the close of betting and the final ball is where the game earns its name.
The Disco Cat, the ladders, and the two kinds of ball
Once betting closes, a character called the Disco Cat scatters random multipliers across the grid. Cat multipliers run from 3x to 20x; ball multipliers from 3x to 10x. If a number picks up more than one, the values are added together rather than replaced. The Cat also stamps a Disco or VIP Disco bonus symbol onto a single number, marking it as that round's bonus number - which may itself carry a bonus multiplier of up to 25x.
Then the machine starts drawing, and the drum contains two types of ball:
- Step balls advance one of two multiplier ladders - red for odd numbers, gold for even numbers - climbing from 5x toward a ceiling of 500x. Each Step ball also brings the Disco Cat back out for another pass at the grid.
- Result balls end the round and set the winning number.
The consequence is a round with genuine drift. Every Step ball raises the value of half the grid and reopens the door for more multipliers, so the potential payout on the table when the Result ball finally drops can look nothing like the payout on offer when betting closed. Draw a Result ball first and a flat 5x applies - a quick round, a modest return, and on to the next one.
Two dance floors
Land on the round's bonus number and the accumulated multipliers travel with you into the bonus game, where Mr Funky - carried over from Evolution's 2023 hit Funky Time - walks a virtual dance floor collecting more.
The mechanics are identical in both bonus rounds; the difference is real estate. Disco plays out on a 37-square floor, VIP Disco on 63 squares. A mini wheel dictates each of Mr Funky's moves, and he keeps collecting until a spin walks him off the edge, banking whatever he has gathered. More squares means more room to survive, which is why VIP Disco is the one players will be chasing.
The total multiplier is capped at 10,000x.
The numbers operators and players will care about
| Provider | Evolution |
| Format | Live ball-drawing game show, numbers 1–20 |
| Launch date | 9 September 2026 |
| RTP | 96.08% (optimal) |
| Max multiplier | 10,000x |
| Ladder range | 5x to 500x |
| Bonus games | Disco (37 squares), VIP Disco (63 squares) |
Two caveats on the RTP figure. The 96.08% is the optimal return, and numbered bets at maximum stake return closer to 95.25% because of a €500,000 payout cap that clips the top end. Reported stake limits run from around €0.10 to €5,000 per bet, though operators set their own ranges by market.
Why Evolution thinks this one matters
Disco Balls is an Evolution Original rather than a reskin, which puts it in the same release bracket as Crazy Time and Ice Fishing - the titles the company builds studios and marketing budgets around.
Chief Product Officer Todd Haushalter framed the design goal as making the base game as entertaining as a bonus round, arguing that players now expect more from every moment of a round rather than just the payoff at the end. He called the game "like nothing we have done before," and said it advances the category with a fresh approach to game-show design.
That is press-release language, but the underlying mechanical claim is checkable and it holds: the escalating-ladder structure genuinely is a departure from the lock-it-in-then-spin pattern that has defined Evolution's game shows since Lightning Roulette.
What happens next
The game is live at Evolution's studio and available to licensed operators now. Availability at any given casino depends on that operator's own release schedule and on local regulatory approval, so the practical answer for most players is: soon, but not everywhere at once. Tracking sites that log live results and multiplier frequency are expected to add Disco Balls to their coverage as the rollout widens.
Evolution's next visible checkpoints are G2E in Las Vegas (28 September – 1 October) and SBC Summit Lisbon (from 29 September), where the company's 2026 pipeline will get its next public airing.
