Crazy Time turned six this year, and Evolution has stopped being modest about it. In June, the supplier's chief product officer, Todd Haushalter, told the NEXT.io podcast that Crazy Time is "the new blackjack", adding that the game now has more players across Evolution's network than blackjack or roulette.

On October 23, chief executive Martin Carlesund went a step further. Talking to analysts after Evolution's third-quarter results, he put Crazy Time on a very short list of true blockbusters the company has built, alongside Lightning Roulette and the newer Ice Fishing. He even suggested Ice Fishing might be the biggest game online casino has ever had.

The timing matters. The same results showed Evolution growing again, with group revenue up 3.7% year on year for its first increase in five quarters and live casino revenue up 2.6% to €443 million. Carlesund wouldn't credit any one game for the quarter, but the list he reached for says a lot about where Crazy Time stands. Plenty of live titles get a big launch and then drift down the lobby. Six years on, this one hasn't.

## What the wheel actually pays

The hype is all about multipliers. The math is all about segments. Crazy Time's main wheel has 54 of them, and the way they're split explains most of what you see from one spin to the next.

On paper, the humble 1 is the best-value bet on the table, with a theoretical return to player of 96.08% under Evolution's rules. The two headline bonuses, Pachinko and the Crazy Time round itself, sit at the bottom at roughly 94.3% to 94.4%. Put simply, the bets behind all the viral clips are also the ones that cost you the most over time.

Then there's the Top Slot. Before every spin it picks one bet spot and attaches a multiplier of up to 50x, but that multiplier only counts if the wheel stops on the same spot. Most of them never come into play.

## Why a bonus is never "due"

If you've ever watched the [live Crazy Time results](https://slotyi.com/live/crazy-time) during a long dry spell, you'll know how tempting it is to think the bonus is overdue. It isn't. The Crazy Time segment lands once every 54 spins on average, and averages hide a lot.

Run the numbers and roughly 15% of 100-spin stretches will produce no Crazy Time bonus at all. A 200-spin drought turns up about 2% to 3% of the time. On a table that runs around the clock and racks up thousands of spins a week, gaps like that are routine. They don't mean the wheel is broken, and they certainly don't mean a bonus is about to drop.

The wheel has no memory. The 101st spin after a bonus has exactly the same 1-in-54 chance as the first.

## Reading the live results properly

The simplest way to use it is to compare how often each segment has actually landed with its expected share in the table above. Over a big enough sample the two should sit close together, and when they do, that's the game behaving exactly as designed.

Sample size is everything. A few hundred spins is a small window, and a streak that looks dramatic over one evening usually flattens out over a week of results. Keep an eye on the Top Slot as well, because the really big payouts tend to come when a bonus lands with a multiplier already attached.

## More wheels on the way

Crazy Time has already spawned games of its own. Crazy Coin Flip, Crazy Pachinko and Red Door Roulette each take one piece of the original and build a full game around it. Evolution's next launches are on another scale, though. Ice Fishing is rolling out to North American players this quarter, and Game Night, a Hasbro-licensed show built around a giant money wheel and five bonus games based on board-game classics, is due before the end of the year. Carlesund told analysts it's the biggest game Evolution has ever made.
